In this edition, experienced butchers are invited to join AMIC's SA Retail Council, with elections taking place in August. Five butchers presently sit on the council but up to 12 are permitted, meeting on four nights annually. Chris Kelly, AMIC's rep for South Australia and Western Australia urges experienced butchers to nominate.

Also in this edition, the second shipment of MBL's CPET tray sealers are being snapped up by butchers, with more than 1/3 of the shipment being pre-sold. CPET ovenable solutions provide a convenient way to package fresh meat and ready made meals, which can be cooked in the microwave or conventional oven still in the packaging, or frozen. The trays are also environmentally friendly being recyclable and use less film than conventional foam trays.
